This is the unique original Gouache painting by Angus McBride.

The philosopher Francis Bacon also acted as a lawyer. Even though he was a friend of Queen Elizabeth I favourite the Earl of Essex, Bacon accused Essex of being a traitor in order to advance his own position in the Elizabethan court.

This is the original artwork for illustration on pages 24-25 of Look and Learn issue no. 605 (18 August 1973).
